For professional photographers at all levels, and those who simply
have a passion for telling stories through the lens of a camera.
This program has been offered in fully equipped studio spaces, as well as in facilities with limited access to photographic equipment and staging. It can be flexibly adjusted to the particular locale, length of time (weekend vs. a week-long experience), and professional backgrounds or skill level of participants.

The Staged Poetic Image workshop will help you develop and hone your ability to craft conceptual images with authentic emotional resonance. In the context of a supportive, collaborative community, we will spend the session planning, shooting, and post-producing personal narrative photographs. These constructed scenes may tell stories, suggest dreams, or reveal inner landscapes. We will learn the principles of creating compositions that are dynamic and cohesive, practice how to shape light expressively, and explore post-production techniques that will inspire you creatively while increasing your control. Finally, as we strive to grow in our role as emotional messengers, we will discuss and explore chosen methods and techniques, based on both current brain research and time tested artistic practice, that are designed to push us out of our comfort zones to higher levels of creative engagement.
